DEFINITION OF GRAMMAR

“Grammar is a device that specifies the infinite set of well-formed sentences and studies the classes of words, their inflections and functions and relations in the sentences to give them one or more structural descriptions and is also a mechanism that generates all sentences possible in a language and a prescriptive set of rules setting forth the current standard of usage of pedagogical or reference purposes in the form of a book dealing with such principles or rules”.
